Established in 2016, Independent Literacy Evaluation (I.L.E.) was founded on the belief that a child's educational journey was a family affair. We don't seek to outsource the support; we want to build it into the family's infrastructure and teach parents and guardians to support their child's literacy development. When parents suspect their child may be facing challenges in literacy, they often have a strong intuition, but feel uncertain about how to proceed. That’s where I.L.E. steps in.
We bridge the gap between parents and schools, using the same trusted literacy assessments utilized in classrooms to evaluate each child’s needs. This approach not only provides parents with a clearer understanding of their child’s literacy abilities, but also fosters a shared language for collaboration with teachers and tutors.
Since the pandemic, I.L.E. has expanded its support, offering a wide range of services, including Parent Workshops, Tutoring, Special Events, and Consultations. Our services are available at our Bay Ridge, Brooklyn location, in the comfort of your home, or online.
Our mission is to empower families with sustainable literacy practices and routines. We aim to instill confidence in parents and guardians, equipping them to actively support and advocate for their child’s literacy development. At I.L.E., we believe that literacy begins at home.
All ages and abilities of Literacy Learners welcome.
