Comprehension: Elementary, Middle, & High School School

For students who "read well", but still don't understand what they're reading.

After an initial assessment, students will start an appropriate intervention from independent practice in novel studies to more research-based programs like STARI Phonics for Reading, and Rewards. As students participate in progress monitoring every 8-12 weeks, clinicians respond by adjusting instruction as necessary. This is a high growth intervention model.

Summer Tutoring

Join us for Summer Sessions in July and August for a more playful approach to reading and writing, with all the same skills. Theme-based units, literacy games, outdoor activities all on your schedule. Students will be assessed at the beginning and end of the summer session. Join us at our Bay Ridge, Brooklyn location.

Phonics-Based Tutoring for Elementary and Middle School Students:

An Orton Gillingham/ Barbara Wilson approach to decoding, comprehension, fluency, and spelling. The program moves from decoding and spelling CVC words to multisyllabic words to sentence dictation. Focused instruction for reading and spelling High Frequency words. Comprehension and Writing practice included.

Introduction to Phonics for Students 3-7 years old:

The Alphabetic Principle class uses an Orton Gillingham/ Barbara Wilson approach to reading, spelling, and writing. Students work on sound/letter correspondance, phonics, blending words, and preliminary writing skills. Clinicians use charts, games, songs, manipulatives, digital devices, arts & crafts and more to keep young ones engaged.

Caregivers can opt to spend the session with their child learning how to teach the alphabet, phonemic awareness, and early blending. Caregivers leave with materials to continue the work at home with their child. (Best for Early Learners)
